Emirates First/Business Class Lounge Milan (MXP) and BIG SURPRISE!
After a great time in Athens, Santorini and Milan, it was time to make our journey home. However, we weren’t going back to the USA the way most people would from Milan, by flying West. We were taking a slightly less direct route, you know, through Dubai.
Our trip so far:
Wait, why would you do that?? Well, to fly Emirates First Class of course! I actually had to explain to a US customs agent why we flew from Milan through Dubai because he thought it sounded fishy haha!
For the last couple years now, my wife has been flying in First and Business class with me around the world but, she has always wanted to fly on “the first class that Jennifer Aniston flies on!” Because of this, I was going to try to do all I could, on this anniversary trip, to fly her on it.
BUT, I didn’t tell her we were flying on it! I told her we had to fly through Dubai so it would take longer to get home but, luckily she knows nothing about foreign airlines (although she is learning a lot) or their routes. I told her we were flying in business class on Air Alitalia, because I know she had no idea what that was but I could point out signs of it in Italy.
So when we got to the airport and walked up to the Emirates counter my wife was really surprised, but since I had only talked about business class she assumed that was what we were still flying. Her eyes really lit up when I told her, no, we were flying in her Jennifer Aniston seats! This might have been one of the few flights where she was as excited to see the plane as I was HAHA.
So after the surprise it was time to check out the lounge before departing on our big A380!
As you can see from the image above, the lounge is located in the direction of gates B50-59 and there are really plenty of signs guiding you there.
Upon entering we were greeted by the friendly ladies at the front desk and made a right to head in to the lounge.
As you enter the lounge you will find tons of windows (which I love) all around, letting in lots of natural light. To your right is the dining area with a large assortment of hot and cold foods, desserts, drinks and alcoholic beverages. There are also dining tables to eat at or you can take your food to the seating area by the window like us.
Further to the right, past the dining area, you will find the bathrooms/showers and prayer room.
Going back to the entrance, if you look to your left you will see a fountain and another large seating area which has a business station with computers. There is also an area to board the plane. I loved that fact that we could board directly from the lounge! No waiting around in the gate area.
There is finally another large room even further back with a large TV. This back room also had a boarding door so that you can board either flight going through Milan from this lounge (another Emirates A380 had parked at this gate as we were taxiing to take off).
So after a nice stay in the lounge with a good lunch and a few glasses of champagne, it was time for the main event!
For an Emirates outpost lounge I thought this was a great First/Business Class lounge. The food was diverse and very good, the drinks were excellent and they even had macaroons which made Katie very happy! Also, we were able to board directly from the lounge, which allowed us to maximize our time in the lounge, no leaving early and waiting at the gate for 30 min or leaving late and getting stuck in the boarding process for awhile.
