Lounge Review: United Club Chicago O’Hare Terminal F (ORD)

Last May/June I went on my honeymoon to Abu Dhabi and the Maldives which included some awesome cabins like Etihad First Class and Cathay Pacific First Class as well as some great lounges like THE WING.

Once we arrived back in the US we spent a day in Los Angeles and then had to go back to reality, flying United in economy from LA to our home town.

On our way we had a long layover in Chicago where we were able to use two United Club day passes we got from our Chase United credit card to kill some time between flights.

It turns out that although I have been in airport lounges all over the United States and the World I have never actually set foot in a United Club.  So this was actually a new experience for me to end our around the world honeymoon.

The lounge we went to is located in Terminal F near gate 9 and is almost kind of behind the food court area.

After entering on the ground level you encounter the front desk where you show you card and boarding pass and then proceed up the escalator to the lounge.

At the top of the escalator is another desk with United personnel and directly behind is a small seating area and windows over the tarmac.

Turning left to enter the lounge after going up the escalator you will find the bathroom on your right (with a cool picture of an old United plane) as the lounge opens up to your left with a central bar and plenty of seats in the main center area and along the window.

Along the wall on your right as you continue into the lounge are the arrival and departure screens and through out the lounge there is a variety of different seating.  At the far end there is a food station set up.

The food area featured a soup, candy and chips as well as other little snacks.  There was also an espresso machine and of course free drinks at the bar.  I believe the beer selection was MGD and Miller Lite.

Finally there is a small room in the back left corner of the lounge where Katie and I actually took a little nap in one of the really comfortable seats.

CONCLUSION:

Overall I actually really liked this lounge.  I had never been in a United Club before but I guess from all the complaining and problems myself and others have had with the actual airline I expected a sub-par lounge product.  Well, in this instance that was not at all the case.  I thought the layout and decor were great and the food and drink offerings were on par with other domestic lounges.  I also didn’t think it ever got overly crowded and we were in there for a long time.

RECOMMEND

Stay tuned later this week as we will be giving away a few United Club day passes that don’t expire until June & July!
