Lounge Review: Emirates First Class lounge, Terminal B (DXB)
After exploring the extensive First Class lounge in terminal A it was time to head over to the terminal we would be departing from and check out the First Class lounge in terminal B!
As we walked to the front desk the two lounge attendants were staring at us and started talking. Then one quickly walked away. At the time I didn’t really think much of it, but we were about to find out why.
As we handed them our First Class tickets to access the lounge the attendant said, “we thought that was you!” Which came as a surprise to me, “Oh really?”
She then told us that they had been waiting for us to celebrate our special trip!
See, I had messaged Emirates on Twitter when we were in Greece about us just finding out right before we left that my wife was pregnant with our first child and how ginger ale was the only thing that calmed her constant nausea. They had responded on our first flight by paying extra close attention to my wife and never letting her glass be less than half full of ginger ale and even giving us a celebratory cake!
After that great surprise on the plane we certainly weren’t expecting anything else, but Emirates had more surprises in store!
After we were checked into the lounge we turned to our right and found several lounge attendants waiting for us with champagne flutes of ginger ale and gifts which included a Emirates A380 model plane and a Emirates plush toy plane!
We were shocked! We tried our special ginger ale and then we were given a tour of the lounge and had our complimentary massages booked for us!
Needless to say, this was a great start to our lounge stay!
Our trip so far:
Now, this First Class lounge is not nearly as big or as new as the Terminal A lounge, but in some ways that’s a good thing. Things are not as spread out and your don’t feel like you are in a ghost town like you do in the other lounge. Actually, the UEFA Champions League Final was going on at the time we got to the lounge so there were a ton of people watching the TV in the main TV area and cheering, which was fun.
If you turn right when walking in you will see the TV above and then to your left is the half of the sprawled out lounge. Plenty of seating every where. The Spa is to the left walking down, followed by the kid’s room and then finally there is a sit down restaurant.
There is also a buffet that goes with the sit down restaurant and a sushi bar. So you can sit and order and/or go get food as well.
On the other, parallel side of the lounge you will find more seating and an office area. This side was pretty empty and quiet.
Although we did not take advantage of it in the other lounge, Katie and I did have a free massage during our stay in this lounge, which one of the attendants that first greeted us booked for us. I had a foot massage and Katie got a facial, or something, I don’t remember.
Although smaller, this lounge has most of the same amenities as terminal B. Free food, beverages and alcohol everywhere of course as well as a kid’s play area, a sit down restaurant, complimentary massages, a work station area and plenty of seating. However, unlike the other lounge, you can not board your plane directly from the lounge unfortunately and overall this lounge just looks and feels a little older and tireder than Terminal A. It’s in need of a makeover. But over all we had a delightful stay and were continued to be very impressed by Emirates EXCELLENT customer service!
